"First holiday in years” – Digitising a family business delivers lifestyle windfall
We were initially engaged as business accountants for our client’s family business, a successful long-term retailer with several established revenue streams. But after analysing their business, we saw that their numbers weren’t the issue – the problem was their outdated systems. All business invoicing and several other processes were manual, and the client was attempting to run his own books.
We implemented several changes including switching the business to cloud-based accounting software, including an automated accounts payable system. This meant that processing hundreds of invoices per month went from taking hours to taking minutes. WLM’s bookkeeping service Xilch was brought in to look after the day-to-day processing of invoices, bank reconciliations and payroll, sparing the business owner from long nights and weekends managing his own books.
This enabled him to work on the business more, and in the business less – transforming his work-life balance.
