From Venice to Sydney — Sculpting a Better Future

Written by Amanda Rogers | Oct 14, 2025 4:03:33 AM

WLM is proud to share an inspiring story from our long-term client, Australian artist Peter Day, whose latest project unites art, science, and environmental awareness.

Peter has been invited by the European Cultural Centre to exhibit at the 2026 Venice Biennale – Personal Structures exhibition. His series, Sculpting the Unseen, transforms microscopic organisms called Forams into powerful sculptures made from limestone, glass and bronze - materials synonymous with Venice.

These tiny marine organisms, vital to the Venice Lagoon, Western Sydney waterways, and the Great Barrier Reef, are indicators of ecosystem health. Through his work, Peter shines a light on their crucial role in sustaining our planet - and the threat they face from climate change.

Created in Venice, the sculptures will later return to Sydney for exhibition across six venues, inspiring public awareness of the fragile links between art, science, and our environment.

After self-funding the project’s development, Peter is now seeking tax-deductible donations through the Australian Cultural Fund (ACF), managed by Creative Australia - the Australian Government’s arts funding body.
